Springmaid Plays Host to GOP and Tea Party

The Myrtle Beach Convention Center wasn’t the only place where GOP and Tea Party supporters convened yesterday. Springmaid Beach Resort played host to a two-day Tea Party Convention leading up to the FOX News GOP Debate last night. Conservative leaders such as Senator Jim DeMint and Governor Nikki Haley spoke to crowds of over five-hundred people and Republican Presidential candidates Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich addressed the crowds, hoping to gain favor with Republican voters.

The event was the South Carolina Tea Party’s first-ever Tea Party Convention and it enjoyed quite a turnout as leaders, activists, and participants from around the state of South Carolina came to Springmaid Beach Resort to listen to conservative Presidential candidates and state Republican leaders.

Springmaid Beach Resort was just one of the destinations for Republican Presidential candidates, as many of the GOP hopefuls made their way around the Grand Strand to meet with voters in hopes of garnering support for the upcoming primary vote this Saturday, January 21st.

The Tea Party event at Springmaid Beach Resort served as a great warmup for the FOX News South Carolina GOP Debate that took place at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center last night. Watched by viewers around the country, the candidates for the GOP Presidential nomination fielded questions about topics such as foreign policy, job creation, national security, and a host of other issues. When the nearly two-hour debate came to an end, voters came away with clearer pictures of who they will be voting for when the South Carolina GOP primary occurs on Saturday, January 21st. Current GOP and Tea Party polls show Mitt Romney with a comfortable lead in South Carolina (as well as overall), with Newt Gingrich coming in second place.
