Myrtle Beach Dog Policies

You probably know by now that Springmaid Beach Resort is one of the newest pet friendly Myrtle Beach hotels , but you might not know the local Horry County and Myrtle Beach laws regarding dogs. Here is a rundown of a few things you might want to know to keep your dog and others around you safe:

Horry County

  • While in Horry County (including Surfside Beach, Myrtle Beach, and North Myrtle Beach), your dog must be on a hand held leash that is no longer than six feet in length.
  • Animals are not allowed on the beach from 9 AM-4 PM from June 1-Sept. 1.

Myrtle Beach

  • Dogs in public must be on a leash at all times.
  • No animals are allowed on the beach or Ocean Boulevard from 21st Ave. N. to 13th Ave. S. in Myrtle Beach during any time of the year.
  • No dogs are allowed on the beach 9 AM-5 PM from May 15-Sept. 15.

North Myrtle Beach

  • Dogs in public must be on a leash at all times.
  • No dogs are allowed on the beach 9 AM-5 PM from May 15-Sept. 15.

Surfside Beach

  • Dogs are not allowed on the beach at any time from May 15-Sept. 15

Georgetown County

  • While in Georgetown County (including Murrells Inlet, Pawleys Island and Litchfield Beach) dogs are allowed on beaches at any time if accompanied by an owner and on a leash.
  • On Pawleys Island beach, dogs must be on a leash from May-October
  • At Huntington Beach State Park, dogs must be on a leash at all times.

While staying at Springmaid Beach Resort with your dog, you will find designated pet areas where your dog is welcomed. Two dog parks in Horry County are also located minutes away from Springmaid Beach Resort.
