Pelican’s Baseball

Come enjoy a fun, family-friendly outing to this minor league team’s home field – the farm team for the Atlanta Braves. Games are affordable and relaxed events and run all summer long.

Brookgreen Gardens

A “must see” and National Historic Landmark…Considered the finest outdoor presentation of American figurative sculpture in the world, Brookgreen Gardens was created in 1931 on the site of four former rice plantations. Brookgreen Gardens is home to more than 900 works (550 currently displayed) by 300 of the greatest names in American sculpture, past and present. In addition to the Sculpture Garden, visitors can explore the Lowcountry History and Wildlife Preserve, containing acres of native plants and animals, and the E. Craig Wall, Jr. Lowcountry Center, featuring exhibits and educational programs focusing on the area’s rich history. Guests can visit varied ecosystems and historic sites via boat or overland aboard Springfield tidal creek excursions and Trekker back-roads excursions.

Battleship North Carolina

Ready for a day trip…the Battleship North Carolina beckons…Standing with quiet dignity and majesty across the river from downtown Wilmington, NC, the Battleship NORTH CAROLINA invites visitors to walk her decks and envision daily life as well as fierce combat that her crew faced in the Pacific Theatre during World War II.

Children’s Museum of South Carolina

Invites chidren and families, both local and visitors to the area, to “Come Touch, Explore, and Play…” while learning about the world through the interactive exhibits and programs at The Children’s Museum of South Carolina. Their commitment to education & fun can be experienced in all exhibits and educational programs. Thousands of visitors from schools, day care centers and other groups in Myrtle Beach and surrounding communities, along with tourists from around the world, enjoy our Museum every year. Special programs offered by the Museum, such as Toddler Tuesday and Starlab, are extremely popular with the adults and children who visit the Museum.

Burroughs & Chapin Art Museum

Located right next door to Springmaid, the Franklin G. Burroughs-Simeon B. Chapin Art Museum is the Grand Strand’s home for contemporary art. The museum is a restored 1920’s beach cottage. In the 11 galleries, contemporary art exhibits change throughout the year. The Museum Shop offers a cross section of work by leading artists and craftspeople from throughout the Southeast. Admission is free, but donations are appreciated. Docent tours are available for groups of 5-20 people with a fee of $2/person. Reservations must be made at least one week in advance.

Myrtle Beach State Park

Great for families and just a few minutes down the beach from Springmaid….Built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s under President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s New Deal Program, Myrtle Beach State Park was the first state park to open to the public. Because of this, the maritime forest was declared a Heritage Trust Site. This popular,
312-acre Park includes a nature center inhabited with snakes, turtles and marine animals, as well as a backyard wildlife habitat featuring a captivating butterfly garden and birdhouses. The Myrtle Beach State Park known to be one of the best bird-watching locations on the East Coast. Hopsewee Plantation

Hopsewee Plantation is a South Carolina National Historic Landmark built in 1740 nearly 40 years before the Revolutionary War and once home of Thomas Lynch Jr, signer of the Declaration of Independence. The property is located on the North Santee River and has beautifully landscaped grounds and wooded nature trails. Visitors can tour both the main house and the grounds on weekdays.

Murrells Inlet Marsh Walk

Located in the heart of the “Seafood Capital of South Carolina,” the Murrells Inlet Marshwalk is a beautiful way to enjoy the beauty, wildlife and spectacular scenery of the community of Murrells Inlet’s saltwater estuary. Built along the marshes dotted with picturesque seafood dining establishments, the Marshwalk offers not only a freshly quaint environment, but also a chance to embark on seafaring adventures like boating/fishing excursions and watersports.

Vereen Memorial Gardens

One of the hidden gems of the Myrtle Beach Area, this park features an array of trails/paths that include boardwalks extending across several beautiful salt marshes and small islands. It is a peaceful sanctuary, enjoying a plethora of shaded areas and along with a scenic gazebo that overlooks the Intracoastal Waterway and the distant waterfront of Little River.

Waccamaw Riverwalk

A popular day excursion situated in nearby Conway, the Waccamaw Riverwalk is a fresh boardwalk that winds along the beautiful banks of the Waccamaw River – once called “the boldest river in South Carolina. Visitors to the Riverwalk can partake in a number of activities from canoeing to pontoon and fishing boat rentals. Guided expeditions and walks are also available.

Hobcaw Barony

Hobcaw Barony is a 17,500-acre wildlife refuge on the southern end of the Grand Strand on 14 former rice plantations. Its current use – aside from day-tripper visits to its interesting and remote trails – is for the purposes of teaching and/or research in forestry, marine biology, and the care and propagation of wildlife, flora and fauna in connection with colleges and/or universities in the state of South Carolina. Tours are offered throughout the year of the refuge as well as of the 1930 mansion of Wall Street financier Bernard Baruch who bought the property in 1905.

The Hagood House Inn

Myrtle Beach area…Situated in the quaint community of Aynor, SC, The Hagood House Inn delivers a historic journey back into the early twentieth century to its guests, with its old South-style wrap around porches and rockers, lovely gardens that include a 200 year old pecan tree, claw-foot tubs and wash basins circa 1900, along with a nice helping of picturesque common areas that contain an old baby grand piano, exquisite furnishings and a cozy library with fireplace.

First Saturday Art Walk in Conway

Hosted by the Historic District Artists of Conway, this interesting and interactive experience is offered the first Saturday of each month. Working artists open their galleries and studios to visitors to discuss their crafts. Art Walk sights include glass-blowing and quilting demonstrations, wine receptions in galleries, and live music. For one day each October, Conway closes down streets for “Art and Antiques in the Alley,” a celebration of artistry that includes visits by antique dealers, art vendors, pottery demonstrations and many other artistic outlets.

The Long Bay Symphony

The Long Bay Symphony Orchestra has been performing 15-20 concerts each year since its founding in 1987. Offering a variety of classical music offerings that range from chamber music to a full orchestra and youth orchestra, The Long Bay Symphony provides a welcoming musical respite for visitors to the Myrtle Beach area.
